Jaipur: The state government is working hard to ensure maximum participation of people in the second edition of International Yoga Day which will be celebrated on June 21. Popularising yoga at the gram panchayat-level, the government has decided to rope in village health and sanitation committees too.
At least 44,000 village health and sanitation committees across the state will play key role in successfully organising the event. The yoga sessions will be organised at various levels such as state, district, block and gram panchayat. The government has identified college grounds and stadiums for the purpose. "ASHA (accredited social health activist) workers will ensure that more and more people should come and participate in the event," says a letter issued to all chief medical health officers by the National Health Mission (NHM) director Navin Jain.
The letter says that on the occasion, people in the rural areas will be made aware about yoga for educating them on how to be healthy. It will be organised from 7am to 8 am. The government is taking help of its various departments including medical and health, education, rural development and panchayati raj and women and child development.
Also, NGOs and corporates have also ensured their participation in the event. Besides, women and child development department has also issued directions to Anganwadi workers for organising yoga for benefit of pregnant women.
The government has also issued a yoga protocol which gives information about yoga. It has do's and don'ts like do not keep the body firm while doing yoga and prevent any kind of jerks while doing yoga. It has details like when to take a bath and food after yoga.
